No mistake here. It’s “I.” Because why would someone with the best words say “I’d probably have a good relationship with xxx...” as a stand alone sentence instead of adding an “if” and more to complete the thought?

You are very logically correct, but since the orange guy doesn’t speak our language, no rules seem to apply to him. Speaking in constant fragments and with changing tenses is what one apparently gets from his particular education.
