NYT: Pls confirm he isn't taking a tax write-off for this. What is the net of taxes impact to him? Is he still profiting by tax rate times 1.5m? Thanks @maggieNYT @GlennThrush @

So what if he’s writing off his donation. The problem isn’t that Wahlberg’s getting paid for his work. The problem is Williams isn’t getting paid equally for hers

The studio should have apologized and paid Michelle Williams what she deserved AND made the charity donation.

Now did he do this out of generosity or because he was busted asking for more money???

If he went in demanding 'more than Michelle' he's been rightfully busted. But if he went in with a figure that just happened to be more than Michelle was getting then this is on the studio and he should be applauded.

She didn’t have a figure, she just jumped and assumed other actors would too without asking for more $$ it was her bad to not ask for more and take base, she could have told her agent to ask for more like Mark read the article:https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/01/10/business/media/spacey-whalberg-williams-all-the-money-in-the-world.html?referer=https://www.google.com/ …

I'm not making any allowances for greed here. If Mark had no knowledge of what Michelle was getting - or not getting, more pertinently - he can't really be blamed for anything.

I’m actually quiet surprised she didn’t ask for more money to do reshoots. Or maybe her context doesn’t allow it. It’s all assumptions and guessing at this point. But it would be nice for someone to ask Mark Whalberg.

Wahlberg didn't negotiate his salary, his agent did. He's currently the highest paid male actor in Hollywood and the producers paid him his "market value". Williams is an accomplished actress but she's not the draw here. Why bash Wahlberg here, bash the system

Don’t blame the guy for asking for more money. And don’t blame her for not. Women are more accommodating. Men have that feeling of importance. Next time maybe the studio will pay them equally.
