This is the 21st century. Liberalism fails because the weakest thinkers control the narrative. And they are? Editors answering to capital-driven motives/masters like ratings, "likes", retweets, ad revenues and box office. The 'civil' is gone from civilization. Trump is proof.

No country lasts forever and USA is quickly heading to it's demise. It'll collapse and come back as a theocracy is my guess. But the rest of the world ought to brace itself for the upheaval and chaos. I'm becoming a survivalist but gonna need a long term supply of medicine yikes

We derive a lot of our feelings on a republic from the founding fathers and writings in their time including constitution. Certainly they were flawed just as us, but they too point to virtue and claim to have followed Adam Smith and the use of free-market vs Marx's capitalism.

While some weren't religious and held their beliefs private they refer to a creator. They point to the meaning of life is to pursue happiness, as defined by oneself. They also refer to virtue of men as the glue that holds any form of government together.

But in not trusting the strength of that glue, and the fact that one virtuous man can be defeated by the next non virtuous man, a system of checks and balances with the people having arms to oust such government if ever is needed.

It is the reason monarchies, dictatorships and others will fail, the virtuous can be defeated easily by non-virtuous (corrupt) people in power. Power easily corrupts, it is inevitable. Founding fathers even recognize this and say a monarchy may take over the republic.
