It started out as a runny nose and a cough — typical cold symptoms. Then things took a turn for the worse.http://nyti.ms/2DjiGnw

Twenty-one years ago, this article could have been written about my experience with my four month old daughter and RSV. It remains the scariest, most heart-wrenching experience of my life.

My daughter was 7 weeks old and when the pediatrician said if she starts to turn blue race her to the hospital I was terrified. Spent 3 days in the hospital with her.

My daughter literally quit breathing at day care. A beautiful woman gave her cpr until the ambulance came. From there she was sent to Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Ft Worth, where she was kept in a medical coma for almost 3 weeks. That was 21 yrs ago, and it still

reduces me to panic remembering it. However I’m typing this while babysitting that daughter’s own daughter, so we were extremely fortunate (or protected by lots of angels).

My son had this 6 years ago at age 1. Thank god we were on vacation in Florida, ended up at the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando. He was in great care and pulled through. Happy and healthy 7 yr old. Scary scary and helpless feeling for a parent.

Been there 23 years ago w my 2 mo old twins. So scary, we & others were isolated, I stayed to breastfeed them & look after them as hospital was full. A baby died on 2nd day there which had all parents frantic. I’d never heard of RSV before. My prayers to all.
