It means the student deserves respect. It means college is paid for. It means a home is paid for. It means a new start. Congratulations on victory.

That’s what lawsuits are all about there slick. You can’t get someone to do what is either the law or if you have been wronged, you file a lawsuit to get them to correct behavior or they settle. In this case, they had not followed the law and could either go to SCOTUS or settle!pic.twitter.com/ri7uR9WoQ9

Or they were afraid there is no legal right to a bathroom and they might lose. Usually a settlement is either to get someone to go away for less than the cost of the lawyers and trial or because one side isn't confident on a judge's or jury's verdict.

And what if they had gone all the way to the SCOTUS and lost? What if the they ruled that gender neutral bathroom options were adequate accommodation or that there is no gender other than male or female? What would they have gotten?

You may be right, but it makes it easy to paint it that way. They could also have settled to be able to claim a win. As for the school district, it seems it would have been better in the long run to have the issue decided one way or another to eliminate eternal litigation.

Obviously the money was more important then the message and meaning they were supposedly fighting for. That’s my issue here. Both sides should be disappointed in this outcome

The third side - the taxpayers - should also be disappointed. They're the ones ponying up the $800K.

And a $800K settlement won't have any effect on their insurance rates going forward? In the real world every penny spent on one thing is a penny not spent on something else.

Which shows you know zero about gender identity disorders. A transwoman doesn't decide she's female. She understands that, despite her genitals, she has always been female.

The key word "disorder". Perhaps some therapy to help eliminate the disorder? No one, including you apparently, deny these people have a problem. Helping people with problems seems like the right approach. We wouldn't let someone with an eating "disorder" just starve!
