The pope arranged for free circus tickets for thousands of poor people. The plan did not go down well with animal rights activists.http://nyti.ms/2D4lmJ2

How about sharing the Vatican's wealth with the poor? Now that would be some circus!

Sad you do something so nice for thousands and no doubt the ones complaining are the more fortunate ones.

Don’t like this at all ! Could they not have thought of somewhere else to bring these poor people other than to a place where animals are so badly treated ! Only good thing that came out of this is that these people got a meal and access to medical advice

How do you know the animals are being mistreated? I’m sure every circus & company has different methods. (I know some are horrible.)

A circus is no place for animals and they are being used to entertain us ! It’s wrong 100% wrong

Here we have a great man wanting to treat those who are less fortunate to a nice day out, and certain people want to take that away.

This isn't about that - it's about animals being used and abused to entertain humans. It's deplorable. There are myriad other activities they could have undertaken.

This is what's wrong with the modern world. People can't do anything, even acts of kindness without a small minority becoming offended and ruin it for everyone. Some people still want to have fun and enjoy their lives.

Circuses aren't kind places for the animals.used and abused there. This is what is wrong with humanity - callously disregarding the feelings and agency of all other species for our selfish, fleeting whims. We demand rights for ourselves that we entirely deny to others. Sick.

Here's an idea. Instead of worrying about the people who make a living by bringing happiness to the world, how about you worry about the animals that are actually on the brink of being completely erased from the planet first!

You're okay with exploiting and using others? I'm worrying about the victims, not the oppressors who profit off the suffering of their captives.

I stopped going to the circus years ago after watching a video of trainers beating elephants feet to make them do tricks. To hear an elephant cry is heartbreaking....all this so people can be entertained by animals taken from their natural environment. No thank you.

Have you read Genesis 1:29? Your garden of Eden was vegan. Your god"s original plan was for peace, nonviolence, and harmony. He "designed" you to eat only plants. Are you vegan, or are you skating by on the concessions made for the sinners?

The same bible placed every animal under man's authority. U can kill and eat them as u like.
