        In short, homelessness is primarily due to mental illness, drug addiction, unemployment and poverty. In the 1960s D’s lowered the standard of mental health facilities from not ‘able to care for yourself’ to ‘do harm to others or yourself.’ Poverty and unemployment are (1/2).

        Well it is certainly than better than the homeless man I saw sleeping in the freezing walkway at Penn Station. Richest country in the world still can't offer shelters that are better alternatives to freezing to death. That is truly sad.

        Rush hour trains are particularly bad too. Sometimes entire cars were empty because a homeless person defecated in it. I'm sorry to see this is still a big problem, many years after my commuting days ended.
