She probably made a scene warranting her removal. I love how these headlines skew the truth. Nobody gets "wrestled to the floor and handcuffed" for simply asking a question.

To be clear, I meant the wrestle and handcuff part. Not the “making a scene” part. Airing of these issues is exactly what this type of meeting is for.

The article doesnt detail anything disruptive that she did other than question the class hierarchy.

I watched the video. She was being disruptive. Had her chance to speak and then wouldn't move on. Was asked to leave and got herself removed. Just as I thought.

are u serious? she is allowed to speak as much as she wants, it's her first amendment right. to forcibly remove her from the meeting is a violation of that. my god

She's not allowed to speak " as much as she wants" in a school board meeting. You can state your opinion and give input but you can't control the floor.

I hope she sues the hell out of the police department. I'm getting sick of unchecked power plays by men.

Why did you end that tweet with "by men"? It's a power play, full stop. Nothing to do with gender. Your tweet was sexist and unfair.

I think she’s referencing the way Republican Congressmen have reacted to several female colleagues lately. Optics are similar.

Problem is, if a man says "by women" at the end of a similar statement, they would likely be accused of being misogynistic. We ALL need to take care of the use of our language.

Agree with more respectfulness regarding language, but also think if women repeatedly engaged in the same problematic action, it should be acceptable to phrase it similarly. Like, “I’m getting really tired of all these people being tripped in the park by women.” It’s just a fact.

My concern is that too much of the discussion is becoming men v's women. We need to just respect each other as people. That takes the gender issue out of it.

True story, Stan, and I truly hope to see that in my lifetime. As difficult as it is, the current rise in awareness is the first step to getting there.

Teachers should be one of society's most valued assets. Instead, they are overworked, underpaid and disrespected. Public board mtgs are supposed to provide TAXPAYING citizens a forum for discussion. Guess not in Louisiana!

When does this argument end?? People say the same about nurses, teachers, daycare workers, social workers...when does it stop? How much are we expected to pay all these people?? It’s a job. If you don’t like the pay, move on!
