Recy Taylor, who Oprah just mentioned, was gang-raped by 6 white men in 1944, in a case that galvanized the early civil rights movement. She died in December at 97.http://nyti.ms/2Fd4tZW

Hail for Oprah... Peace for Recy Taylor... But you should better be call them "men" instead of white men...

Why ? The attack was racially motivated so why try to protect them and act like it wasn’t ? Call them what they are, violent racists, and rapists.

Well said, you're absolutely right! In this situation it is definitely relevant as to the race of the men involved. I do hope Ms Taylor lived a happy life. No doubt there are others that have lived happy and safe lives due her strength and bravery. 😇🙏🏼🏅

I have one more thing to say. Yes, it is a horrific story. But let's be honest. The racial, brutal raping of Black women without consequence has been the American way for too long. I am glad that today women can unite regardless of color to fight rape. #TimesUp

Totally agreed. And you're right. In slavery while men were beat, tortured, whipped, humiliated and killed women were raped. Post slavery this continued. Sexual violence towards women in the states is common, in Canada it's the same towards our aboriginal women.

So the lawmakers apologised.... did they arrest the attackers? An apology is just basically an empty gesture if there is no action.

No, they were never brought to justice. They were given $600.00 as compensation.
