I've lived in Sydney all my life, on or near the sea, and I can tell you this 'culinary acid-trip' is an abhorration. We do simple, beautiful seafood dishes really well. Go to almost ANY fish and chip shop in the land, and you'll see what I mean. 🐟 🇦🇺👍

This author has obviously never experienced the seafood from the cuisines of Asia. Or Central or South America. Or the Caribbean. Or the Scandinavian countries. Or the Mediterranean countries. Or Coastal Africa. Or Coastal South Asia.

That does not look appetizing at all. A nice piece of fish fried in a little butter or roasted in the oven with prawns / shrimps fried quickly in garlic butter and a few Chillie flakes a salad with samphire a salty seaweed tossed into it. Simple is best.

Binary comparisons between modern seafood restaurants in Australia and the USA really does a disservice to all of the modern seafood in places like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Copenhagen, Lima, Singapore and Taipei (to name a few). Come on, you guys can do better than this.
