Remember when the gas attendants checked our oil, put air in our tires and washed our windshields. Then we went to self serve and that’s all she wrote. For that reason I don’t do self serve in supermarkets. Before you know it, no cashiers. Going to Jersey to fill my car.

Yep, we need to remember the dignity of work, treat all workers with the respect they deserve regardless of the jobs they do, and stop regarding dollars as the only kind of profit that matters.

I remember the first time my husband and I visited NJ in the 90s, stopped to get gas, and then my husband got yelled at by the fuel attendant to “get back in the frickin’ car!” Incidentally, that was the LAST time we visited NJ! 😁👍

I just can't comprehend an adult not being able (or allowed) to fill their own tank. I wonder how many don't know how to check their oil and water and pump up their tyres - things I learned at the same time as I was learning to drive. It seems so foreign to me.

Jersey is not on the moon. We are able to fill our tanks if we travel out of state. So we don’t pump our own gas, what’s the big deal? We’re warm in our car in the winters so it’s a win for us

Lol why are you all being defensive? I just said it seems bizarre to me. Things are usually illegal for good reason, like public safety, not bc it's a privilege or luxury to not have to do it. Also, I guarantee a lot of people in your state don't know how to do it themselves.

Comments I've seen from ppl in Oregon on other articles about this topic have stated very clearly that they don't know how to pump fuel. Like I said to @StephanieARuiz I'm not trying to imply that people are dumb, it's just a fact of never having had to do it yourself.
