@Audromatic3000 Great article! This is a taboo topic in Asian American circles, so it's a breakthrough to have an Asian woman write about it in NYT. We must talk about this. Here's @PlanAMag's take on Asians and the alt-right:https://planamag.com/what-if-asian-american-men-fall-to-the-alt-right-3b392495786 …

Thanks! Your piece has tons of interesting insights, lots to unpack there. I def saw "Asian Nationalist" men (but not other minorities) posting on WN forums about having the same goals: a separate AN state.

It's also ironic how people who call themselves "asian activists" love dating racist white guys who treat asians as somehow less than human. I'm looking at you, Chloe Bennett and Logan Paul.

You should read it. The tweets they attach always throw the actual article out of perspective, but it’s extremely well written.

It is all a piece of propaganda pushed to make you believe these people are Republican. Andrew Anglin is a liberal Democrat who was once a politician and studied liberal politics in college. This Alt-Right fantasy needs to end. These groups are all Democrat.

My only gripe: “These stereotypes have roots in America’s postwar military incursions into Asia....1945.” Actually, much earlier than 1945. Western exocitizication of Asian culture/women has persisted for over 100 years, perhaps even dating back to Marco Polo’s silk road era

Did you actually read it? If so, what fault did you find with it? Because I just read a well reasoned and researched article, and your dismissal is not an adequate counter argument.

Let’s start with the opening paragraph and it’s use of a stereotype/racial slur. Yellow fever? YOU SO FUNNY! Perhaps she and you are cool with looking past it this time because the piece is aimed at a group you both don’t like. I don’t need to say more. #DOUBLESTANDARDpic.twitter.com/oROpFyaTu4

The entire piece is a commentary on the racism inherent to the fetishization of Asian women. So, yeah, that slur is being used in the context of a critique of the theme of the slur, intentionally. She’s making a point.

Sorry, I disagree. One cannot, on one hand, demand equality, an end to racism and racist behavior, and with the other use it on a whim, humorously. You’re either a part of the change and end it, or you perpetuate it. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. It was in poor taste.
