The case for the subway: every other major metro area in the world. Only idiots drive in a city.

Mass transit is evil socialism or something. One visit to London, Paris or Tokyo would show them how awesome good train systems are.

I wouldn’t own a car if I lived in a city with a great metro. Hell, I never even drive downtown in Denver if I can help it. RTD for the win.

I don't live in London or Glasgow but I like going on the Underground when I visit both cities. Also NY is a city and they pay more collective tax, so chances are your tax will be used for something local to you.

In Scotland the Barnett formula is used to determine how much tax money Scotland gets from London.Your country will be similar. London is, however, dependant on Scotland for its water supply, so they have to pay or we turn off their taps. This system has worked very well so far.

We had a very good referendum a few years ago, and we debated all the issues, and decided to stay with Britain. The result was very close though. Something like 55 to 45. It was interesting.

Right, that’s the problem. No the mismanagement by MTA.

Yes there is mismanagement. But 10 yr incentives for which the state gets nothing in tax revenue's will also do a number to the budget as well.

There are states with much better regulatory structure and no state tax. Despite the advantage of New York City, the state is losing companies. I disagree with specific corporate giveaways, there should be a state wide elimination of state taxes and regulatory reform.

They're pulling that shit in CA as well. And think about the #ReformTaxScam that has now pitted blue states against red States and who will be picking up their taxes due to the Rs cluster fuck #TaxScam

I don't think it's the federal government's problem that blue states have high state taxes. As someone who lives in NYC, I don't mind this. Hopefully it'll force NY to reduce state and local taxes.

CA screwed itself with prop 13 so until they do something about that state and local taxes will stay high.
