Is it just me or does it seem like removing net neutrality was done just to save cable companies from losing their cable tv subscriptions to streaming content.

In some respects firms like Netflix get a bit of a free ride. Their success and the internet traffic explosion that comes with it, puts huge pressure on the capital budgets of network providers.

if Netflix were merely pushing unrequested traffic, I might agree, but the traffic crossing their network is for a service that which the telcos’ paying customers are requesting. Netflix offer ISPs ways to minimize traffic if they so desire.
