        This will cut down on visitors... a very bad thing. Most visitors make a donation - perhaps not $25, but something. As a Met member, this goes against the mission to make art accessible.

        Philly Art Museum and the Boston MFA are both $25, IIRC. (Philly’s admission is good for 2 days, though.). Good thing I have a membership at Philly with a reciprocal agreement for the Met.
