Build the subways ABOVE the streets! And plant grass on the rooftops. Less snow plowing, less AC, less water problems.

No! This city was not built on the subway. We built this city on rock and roll.

I thought Queensland, aka the basket state, was a basket case until reading NYT pieces. The first step is to clean out the swamp given, just like our basket state, no one's accountable & everyone's pork barreling. The solution over here is obvious & way overdue but over there..🙄pic.twitter.com/iCsOh0fCCL

I don't live in New York and this was great read. I had no idea the problems were THAT extensive. Being from Toronto, I was ticked you took Andy Byford from us....but you know what? you need him, hope he helps.

Thats true of some parts of update, but the cities are dying. We can't get representation in Albany because the NYC controls it. I live in Rochester. We need to be left alone. Albany has been killing us ever since the great depression.

Blame that on the rural republicans then, they are the ones who aren’t paying their share, the city has been.

There is a lot of truth in that, but Albany makes that possible. NYC bleeds money into NJ. It's just a big leaky bucket. We can't keep filling it back up. Even NYC's NFL teams are in NJ. Which state do they pay taxes too?

NYC still returns more money to Albany than it receives so your issues are elsewhere
