Ok ENOUGH!!!! This man just died!!! I as a women don’t want the priesthood and two why is it that when the Mormon church doesn’t change the same sex marriage it’s “oh their terrible” there are many many other religious groups that don’t support it.

Oh boo hoo, did you demand the same respect for the thousands of teens that have commited suicide as a direct result of his church's bigoted and hateful policies?
-
Show me the stats.
-
Utah has the nation's highest suicide rate and homelessness rate among LGBTQ teens.
-
Show me the correlation between that and the LDS church?
-
Spike in suicide rate after 2008 prop (which LDS leadership had heavy involvement in). Spike in suicide rate after November 2015 doctrine regarding children of gay parents.
-
Will you share with me where you found those metrics?
-
He can’t. They aren’t real

You could write nice things about Hugh Hefner, but you can't write nice things about a man who led one of the largest humanitarian efforts in the world? I'm not even mad, I just think you should take a long look in the mirror and consider what you celebrate/mourn over.
-
Like when it says: "he embraced humanitarian causes with Christian, Jewish and Muslim groups supporting homeless shelters, food banks, nursing homes and disaster relief efforts in the United States and abroad." Perhaps you should read more than a tweet.
-
That was the very last paragraph of the article. The article was negative in tone, clearly. The first 4 paragraphs are all about opposition and criticism. As you know, what you put at the top of a news article becomes the focus. Reverse pyramid.
-
8th: "In allowing such access, students of church policy said, Mr. Monson presided over an unprecedented era of openness about church history, while reassuring the faithful that theirs was the one true, unerring faith."
-
Cool. Just admit it was negative in tone and we can be over this silly argument, haha.
-
I'm not saying it wasn't negative. They have no covenant obligation to write a hagiography, and I think it's fair to say that from the outside that Monson was ill-suited to deal with the challenges the Church faced.
-
Certainly much of that was due to his health, but overall Monson was probably wishing the whole time that he'd rather be a bishop directly serving individuals rather than heading a bureaucracy, and often let the bureaucracy make the poor decisions.

While the author of this article was undoubtedly doing nothing noteworthy through the majority of his 20s, Thomas S Monson was taking time out of his life to visit widows, provide humanitarian effort to untold thousands, and being an example of Christ. NYT is absolute trash.
-
Not to mention serving in the Navy for his country.

I'm a progressive former Mormon who doesn't agree with a lot of the Mormon doctrine but the NYT is absolute trash for doing this.
