        You don't prevent it. Assuming there isn't some underlying mental health issue in play, you take them outside, and teach them to respect and understand fire. Don't squash the curiosity, satisfy it and provide some education.

        A bad parent caused this. The knobs were not made safe for a child. It’s that simple. Poverty and/or stupidity caused this.
