A mile of subway tunnel in Manhattan costs seven times the global average. Why? Start with 200 workers paid $1,000 a day — to do nothinghttp://nyti.ms/2zQFUxX

You're right, something like the NY Subway was built by three competing companies, not one large agency which has no incentive to lower costs

$6000k for a two bedroom...sure all of us can't live on the UWS. You get a nice two bedroom for $3200, and at $400+ on overtime that doesn't sting...

Where? I have seen two bedroom apt, where one is one bedroom divided into two, for $4,000 and that is way out in Queens, *2hr commute, or in unsafe neighborhoods in Bklyn & Bronx, for $3,000. Subway metrocard unlimited for month over $100/mo. Childcare...etc. NY crazy expensive
