The victim had his hands raised but then lowered them to his waistline and then raised them quickly again, how was officer to know victim wasn’t armed? Hope they catch the caller and prosecute him!

Because the hands were empty. And if they were worried, just tell the guy to lay on the ground.

If cops are there to respond to a possible shooting/hostage situation you keep your hands up in the air until they tell you to put them down! You do NOT lower them towards your waistline at any point in time

Do I feel the victim needed to be shot in the head? Absolutely not!! Nobody knows all the details yet either so I refuse to judge the officer until given a reason too! I feel horrible for victims family and have added them to my prayers

Your prayers mean nothing and you must not feel too bad if you're trying to find a way to justify an innocent person being murdered. There is never an excuse for police shooting an unarmed person.

Do you have this much anger for the dipshit who placed the bogus call or just at the police officer who wouldn’t have even been there had it not been for that call?

Just more proof our cops are not properly trained to handle situations. Average training is 13 weeks long. Canada is 26. Europe has longer training and tends to give their cops psychology degrees so they can understand people's mindset.

If I see one more news outlet refer to this foolishness as “prank call” and not “felonious behavior,” I’m going to scream. Sheesh.

You would think that before guns are drawn a porperly trained police officer will assess the situation. Is it a shoot first, assess later policy?

#SWATTING is not a "prank". There is nothing funny about putting peoples lives in danger by calling the cops and lying about home invasions or hostage situations.

Because American civilians can carry hand guns. Cops can get shot and it creates a panic in their heads. Panic leads to irrational decisions. Canadians can own long barrel rifles but nothing quick about pulling one of those out of their jeans.

The prankster should actually be the only one doing the time because it wasn't the shooters fault. He was a police officer and they didn't know it was a prank call at the time. I was a misunderstanding. A lot of those happen in this world. You should look into logic more.

The shooter opened fire as soon as the victim opened the door. This was murder.

They didn't know it was a prank call. For all they knew the victim could've been armed or something. It was a prank call. They didn't know it was one it was a misunderstanding. Put yourself in the shooters shoes. Use empathy. If you don't know what that means, look it up.
