The bottom line here is that American police officers have established a wholly irrational world-view that it is perfectly acceptable for them to totally secure their personal safety at any cost to the lives of the communities they serve. It is NOT acceptable.

Imagine a SWAT team (supposedly highly trained) not being able to distinguish between a hostage situation and a dude just opening his door.

And why shoot before determining who's who? What if the person sent to the door was one of the hostages?

The police officers are totally culpable. It is THEIR job to do police work to determine if there is a danger... not the caller’s. People who are THIS fearful have no business being police officers. Should be washing dishes in a restaurant!

What indicates KC police will be held accountable? The reason cops kill innocent people constantly is that they routinely AREN'T held accountable. They're actually empowered to kill innocent people.
