Like Christians killing Christians. Or Texans killing Texans. Or people killing people, really. Not a big deal. Right?

Sunni and Shia killing each other like Catholics and Protestants killed each other a few centuries ago. Well, in northern Ireland not so long ago.

I wish that wounded me as it once would have, but we’re all so inured to the violence now. Do terrorists get that their acts are now pointless?
-
They're clearly not pointless. As boredom with terrorist slaughtering sets in, we look elsewhere for something newer, more interesting. This serves them, opens their playing field: Our loss of interest empowers them to broaden their scope & jump the fences. They love our boredom.
-
You make an impassioned argument, and for that I respect you. But I don’t get your point. Terrorism is all about publicity, about very public acknowledgement. Without that, it’s pointless.
-
I think: We take them for granted, w/our Western perspective. We assume all outrageous acts are for attention, because that's our MO. They are not us. Their motives, life/death/spiritual constructs, are different. We'd do well to look past the obvious, where the quiet is full.
