I hate this cashless trend. Not only does it force me to spend credit or debit, but more importantly it disenfranchises the poor. @sweetgreen does this and it is so frustrating.

Quite frankly, it’s discriminatory.
-
It is discriminatory and also, more troubling regarding privacy, a way to monitor activity. From where you eat to who you talk to on your phone to where you park your car, you are being monitored. No bueno

I didn’t even think about that. Yes, forced to participate in

It’s really happening at a break neck pace and it’s conflated with technology that we enjoy, that makes our lives easier, etc. but there seems to be a higher price.

Well they won't see me in one of these places for a number of reasons 1 cash keep you on budget 2 no worry about your card being compromised (was a victim) 3 I prefer inclusion of everyone. 4. Do not have to attest to a minimum purchase
-
You also save a lot. Having to go home to pick up more cash talks me out of some purchases.

So, no poor people allowed, eh? No homeless folks? Guess that's one way to continue gentrifying the city.

Um, cash is "legal tender for all debts, public and private". Doesn't that make it illegal to refuse cash payment?
-
That means you can't be kept in a contract if you are trying to pay it off. It doesn't obligate someone to agree to sell something to you. I think this should be changed, but the government protecting our right to not be tracked isn't likely.

People tend to overspend when they swipe a card. Cash keeps you from spending ‘unseen’ money.

This is stupid. Accept all forms of payment & keep it moving. But cash is way better. No transaction fees esp for the businesses so I don't get it.
-
There are armored car, night drop, insurance costs with cash. It's not without transaction costs.

How is it legal to not accept payment of cash?
