Opinion: One of the last times Courtney Weaver saw her fiancé, he shot her in the face. Should he try to buy a gun after his release from prison, she wants to know about it.http://nyti.ms/2BGdHN5

Thanks, Martha! I'm Australian, and a US citizen. It's tough to get my head around why the US doesn't follow the Aussie way.

Because we don't want to be left vulnerable in case our government decides to "go rogue" which it appears they've already been doing. You know, because governments have NEVERRR killed their own people. Ever.

You realise people can still own guns in Australia? Have to be checked and licensed I believe. So when our government...,”goes rogue”, I’m sure we will be ok.🤔

Good to know. I should do more research. Also, thanks for responding to the "goes rogue" tweet. I didn't know what to say.

The problem people seem to not grasp is that gun laws affect law abiding citizens. If a criminal is wanting to obtain a weapon (rifle, shotgun, handgun) they will find a way to do so. #GunControl does not work. Harsher penalties for gun related crimes may.

Reasonable, likely though if he was trying to purchase a weapon with criminal intent he wouldn’t go through proper channels.

Meanwhile, President Obama and CA Governor Brown both pardoned violent gun offenders, because Democrats care so much about strong gun laws and enforcement.
