Poor excuse. When I traveled I always made sure I had cash and the right denominations for Doormen, Maid, Waitresses, etc. It's part of the trip and letting people share your joy is important.

Not sure if I agree. I think our shift to technology as a means of payment has largely contributed to a lack of paper money use in today's society. And the introduction of venmo is a large factor in this debate.
-
Remember, I am older, so prices vary. If I were in a hotel and had nothing but twenties I would simply go to the desk and have them break it down. Maid, 5$/day, Doorman, 5-10 or more on service. With drmn and limo driver they are always ready for next trip and right there for me
-
Right, I get that. And that's good to do, but I think it's pretty true that people don't carry around 20's anymore, like you say they used to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume you had the cash readily available because you actually needed to use it most of the time.
-
This really isn't the case anymore. I can go use credit cards, buy off amazon, deliver food to my door through uber, pay someone else on my phone. Honestly, the only times I ever have cash readily available is when I go to a store that's cash only and has an ATM at the ready.
-
As mentioned, I am home bound on pension, not a very good one. If I have a delivery service where I can't add the tip I make sure I get some cash. One of the reasons we live pension to pension is because I don't watch my money so closely. Would rathr spnd or donate. We R blessed

We need an effective cashless tip app.

Physical USDT tokens? Put qr code on a round paper token.. kind of like Pogs?... OR do it like an airdrop? OR have the staff wear a qr code somewhere discrete or have then carry a card with their own personal bitcoin (when it goes feeless) qr code.
-
Yeah, like tap your phone to some device they have that's easily accessible. Maybe their badge.

To accept tips should be an embarrassment to their employers

Spoken like a real millennial. Do you know why people tip in the first place? It’s a form of respect for doing good job.

Why are there elevator operators still? I can press my own buttons without paying. Times have and will continue to change. Societies in the future will be cashless more so.

I’m not tipping someone for opening a door. You’re lucky you’re getting paid anything for that “job.”
