Congress has left a conservative imprint on the courts, taxation, regulation and the environment. Next up: poverty programs.http://nyti.ms/2D7dj9J

You are normalizing Trumpism NYTimes. Shame on you. This isn't a "conservative" mark - it is a mark of kleptocracy and a mark of using power to violate 240 year old norms - hardly in keeping with GOP prior stated "principles." Is Putin a "winner"? Erdogan? Please. stop. JC.

Listen to un chat, New York Times. Stop playing down the unprecedented and monstrous policy being passed, and treat information with some respect.

It really ticks me off - it is suggesting the ends -- the alleged win for the alleged conservatism -- justifies the means. It does not - norms of our democracy have been grossly violated and it isn't conservative - trillion dollar deficit and so much to those who add no value.

At the very least they need to put it in quotes. "Conservatism". Cultural conservatism has completely divorced itself from political or philosophical conservatism. Getting people to act outside of their own interests by attacking "enemies" is more fascist than "small government".

In other words they (the GOP) are busy destroying government for the 1%.

Such Republican terms,"Poverty" or "entitlement programs" are meant to shame the recipient. Fine. Let's call out what will be next: Universal Basic Income. Humans have value and deserve respect, food, shelter and health care. Apply the Golden Rule concept to UBI participants.

Please explain what is conservative about giving rich millionaires more millions to stuff in their bank accounts while working middle class pay the bills for USA government? Not so much conservative as license to steal!

Except "conservative" stems from the word "conserve," so... No. No they haven't. Not at all.

The Republicans who only choose to represent the 1% need to be voted out of office. I want my taxes to help pay for a safety net with housing and food stamps for children and families. The rich don't need tax cuts paid for by the starving and homeless. It's wrong and heartless.
