A sheriff in the article referred to the victim as a “young man.” He wasn’t even a “big boy.” He was 6. That’s a young child. Jesus is weeping on Christmas Eve.

When were police given the option of shooting ppl who run away, rather than chasing them? Easier, more exciting? Except you SHOT A LITTLE BOY!!! I hope nightmares follow the rest of your life!

I've always wondered the same thing. I thought the law was your life must be in jeapordy to fire in a suspect. If they're running away how can you justify shooting?

They apparently don’t need to justify anything anymore.

This was NOT a tragic accident & although I am a law enforcement advocate, I do not support this rash of "shoot first" incidents by police. That child's death is on them & as they celebrate their Christmas, I hope they remember that.

Need to improve quality of police with license to kill. Weed out those with bad judgement. Re-evaluate yearly to catch those who have become hardened. Fire training company who desensitize police to killing. Toughen laws to protect citizens from "feared for my life" defence

Truly a travesty. Was the guy holding the six year old as a body shield? Or did he kidnap the 6 year old? Either way, I love and support our men and women in blue, but that doesn’t mean they should get away with things like this
