LOVE these dogs! So sweet and loyal. They don't deserve the treatment and reputation they have due the uneducated misinformed people out there.

Great dogs, problem is the trend of stupid owners over compensating through their dogs. At one time it was Dobermans then Rottweilers, now its pit bulls. Fine line between protecting the innocent dogs that improperly trained or treated that become dangerous and the idiot owners

Didn't they read the news from Virginia where recently a woman was mauled to death by her own pitbulls..?

Those dogs had been isolated by her dad and mistreated and starved by him while she was out of town. She was also found with her pants down around her legs. There’s way more to the story than just “pit bulls attack woman.”

Dogs are not issue. Irresponsible dog owners are the issue. Dogs only do what they are trained to do. If an owner trains the animal to be aggressive than the animal will be aggressive. Most unwise for a dog trainer of police dogs to be training home dogs for a family home.

They do what they are trained to do, & also what they are designed & bred to do over generations. My buddy the Shepherd likes to herd the neighbor kids; my Newfie pal is extremely sensitive to people in water; my Pointer pal points at squirrels. Naturals.

Mine a gentle lady who was abandoned in Orange County, first months of life struggled home unknown, obtained September 7th. At first dominance attempted. Second chewed leather, wood, hands, feet, incessant biting, but now calm, kisses and hugs. She has a home Looked a mess at 1stpic.twitter.com/LoZGzGFo2y

Guy muted me because he assumes because I'm living in Texas, I'm a wingnut. His poor assumptions about me dovetail with his poor assumptions of pit bulls. He made his own argument null and void.

What makes such dullminded legislation fail is the inherent unfairness it creates and knuckling under to irrational fear mongering is never a logical solution. Owners who use dogs as weapons or just tie them up in their backyards need to be the focus.

Breeds are not the problem. The problem is owners. A dog is a companion, and a great responsibility that needs to be taken seriously.

That's good. The problem is not in breeds but in people and how they treat the animals. If the media were more honest about following up on mauling stories, we would see that.

Pit bulls should be outlawed. They are bred to be attack dogs and all too frequently are attacking and killing people.

Just as you have pointed out, it is all up to what the human intends to do with the dog, if it is bred for attacking...then the owner must participate in some kind of horrible show using those dogs right? At the end of the day, it is the owners fault, not the dogs.

Yes they are bred for innate physical characteristics and behaviours which have a genetic basis.

And German shepherds, Doberman's, Rottweiler's, Vizla's, Weimaraner's and a bunch of other breeds created for hunting. Again, it depends on the owner to make it dangerous or not. External stimuli on the mind and character of any living being has consequences, Pavlov exposes it

Sorry just is not so..those dogs (pit bulls) are attacking and killing their owners, and strangers. They are bred to attack and kill and should be outlawed for protection of all.
