Opinion: "In this correspondence, the former Miss Americas are not winners. Not women. They’re not even people; not even bodies. Just body parts." http://nyti.ms/2BUn5wD

Arguments against canceling pageants always entail "But look how much charity/good comes out of the winners! etc." If anything, that speaks to the power of these women to live generously in a poisoned product. Imagine what they could do outside a parade of objectification.

Did we really think putting women in skimpy clothes parades and have them compete against each other we were putting women’s best interests first? They were literally competing body parts judged solely on sexual attractiveness

I can't believe this "contest" is still a thing. Why would any woman want to be a contestant? It's pointless.

You didnt use your gifts in the same fashion @MissTX2012? To judge the winner of these competitions is relative & opinionated.A loss in these competitions cannot be taken to heart.I agree that women have much greater value than meets the eye, wholeheartedly.

Outstanding! Now that's what we hope to see out of these ladies! Congratulations on your continued success. Great to hear Miss TX. All for the greater good! Beauty and brains, a powerful combination. Belittling these ladies is disgraceful and disgusting. Some boys are pigs.

...so basically this movement is about women telling other women what's appropriate for them, what their correct dreams, desires and aspirations should or shouldn't be...? Not about personal freedom, choice and equal opportunity and treatment?

I watched a movie yesterday, The Circle. It was about being transparent, and having your entire life published and available for all to see Watch it. The ending is powerful, especially in today’s toxic environment.

The movie is about an online community, similar to Twitter and Facebook. People get on-line and share information and experiences. The 2 owners are touting openness and transparency for everyone How much better life would be without secrets!

The lead character finally realizes the people touting everyone to be transparent think it’s good for everyone but them. So she turns the tabes, and publishes THEIR information. Everything. They didn’t like it

So, I have a suggestion. Everyone that publishes “Leaked emails” should first ‘leak’ all of their own first. After all, leaking is good, right? If they have nothing to hide? How about it folks? No secrets....
