The answer is simple. Rajoy resigns, and a sanctioned referendum is called.

Catalans want dialog and a referendum, that can not be ilegal. It will be easy to solve in a decent country. Spain is not decent and is not going to respect the majority.

Catalans have always asked for unconditional dialogue ... at every step. @marianorajoy has always denied it. Even today President @krls offered...#Again same answer. Mediation may be the only way ... or it will escalate. Not good for anyone in #europw

18 documented times in the last 2 years the Catalan Government had call to the Spanish Gov for negotiation. Allways the same response NO WAY. The problem no is M. Rajoy the problem is the weak democraci in Spain.

Is not a "deeply divided" region. There is an absolute majority for the independence of the catalan Republic. Rajoy is the big problem, he doesn't want to dialogue.

        M. Rajoy party ( PP ) only got 4% of votes in Catalonia electins on Thursday. So, is this a valid interlocutor? I don't think so, I think that EU should take a steep ahead.

For Catalonia read Scotland. The issue here now dominates everything else and won't be resolved until it is addressed. Demographics favour separatism. Not realistic for governments to ignore.

The Catalans want a dialogue to agree to divorce with Spain. We have won despite having political prisoners, Government in exile, TV intervened, ... But Spain does not listen and EU closes our eyes. The world has seen it. Help us to help Democracy too.
