This type of hypocrisy is why Catholics are not going to church.

Cardinal Law may have resigned "in disgrace"but still got to skip off to Rome, got promoted, and lived in luxury. Meanwhile the victims live with their pain day in and day out #Shameful

Time for the victims to get consulting, put it behind them and move on! The Cardinal is dead. I'm sure he went to heaven because he went to confession and was absolved of his sins. Our hope is forgiveness for ALL especially the worst sinners.

But we don't need to HONOR people who were responsible for great evil even if he was sorry, forgiven, etc. It's just insulting and wrong.

An a guy having a funeral conducted in another country is an injustice. I guess that just doesn't strike me as unjust, it strikes me as merciful. Justice and mercy are two sides of the coin, I opt for mercy.

Its not just "a guy". Its a high ranking member of our church who did very bad things but is receiving the highest honor. That is troubling. Could be they are showing mercy but that would have to be stated, otherwise looks like the Church thinks that what he did was not that bad

As they should be! The Catholic Church delivered nothing, but injustice to abuse victims, when it comes to this enabling/complicit monster. The Church’s treatment of Law, after his deeds came to light, has been nothing but a huge FU to abuse victims.

I will NEVER understand how or why the Catholic hierarchy protects these pedophiles. Catastrophic failure of leadership @USCCB The essence of Catholicism is worth staying in the church, but it is extremely troubling to support a church whose clergy supports these monsters.

There should be no mass and no closing rites from the Pope. Throw his body in a coffin, nail it shut, bury it. The end and good riddance.
