Our neighborhood was hit bad this year. Nearly everyone on my block has fallen victim, even with surveillance. Years ago, we just rented a PO Box and we use it year round for packages. No problems.

If I don’t recreate 2015 and throw up in my purse on the metro north at 7pm it will be a miracle of 3017

So weird because I keep reading about how great the economy is, why would people need to steal stuff?

How about if someone invents a camera, that when instructed by the owner(on viewing a theft in progress), SPRAYS the same indelible dye, used in banknote bundles! THAT would make it easy to spot them later!

The package – an empty booby-trapped box – is left on a porch. Rigged with fishing wire and a 12-gauge shotgun blank that goes off. "The Blank Box" on his website – http://theblankbox.com http://bit.ly/2ADcK6F

Like... not leaving packages where everyone can see them?

But why the hell do US carrier companies leave packages outside your house to begin with?! Why not simply bring them back and try again tomorrow if you're not home, or leave them at a local package depot? You know, like it's done in the rest of the civilized world...

-
Just what I was thinking - leaving parcels them on the front porch sounds pretty weird to me... Why not hand them to the neighbours or something?
-
Right! If you ask me, it's the carriers that need to change their policy, not the residents who should need to go all gung-ho against these "pirates"... It's ridiculous.

Because Chanukah isn't around the same time, or Yule/Saturnalia for the neo-pagans, or... Plus packages may not be presents at all.

Depends on where you are. Not all religions require buildings and physical structures in which to worship. Non-religious people also buy gifts for others and receive their own packages.
