“You have to swear on a Bible to be an elected official in the United States of America,” said a spokesman for Roy Moore. That is incorrect. http://nyti.ms/2ynkurM pic.twitter.com/P2GVizlv0N

Roy Moore and his fanatics like to claim a love of the Constitution and its history, but they don't seem to actually care much for its contents. Kind of like how Moore opposed everything after the 10th amendment, even the 17th, which is what made it possible for him to run

Nah the constitution doesn't mean anything to Moore, he only repeatedly ignored it as a state supreme court justice. @realDonaldTrump swore on a bible, look what good that did, may as well have been a stack of comic books

Legally speaking, you don't have to swear in on a bible. Hell, for my swearing-in we simply used a pack of Keebler Fudge Stripes.

Teddy Roosevelt: no Bible. J. Q. Adams and Franklin Pierce: book of laws, representing an oath to the Constitution. Glad this "judge" with contempt for the rule of law has been publicly shamed and rejected.

Swearing on the Bible, is technically not a religious test, nor is it a requirement for assuming public office. When John Quincy Adams swore in as the 6th POTUS, he swore on a book of law. Furthermore, the only partition between church and state, is the establishment clause.
