I don’t understand. This article is not a single ounce of fact that would somehow NOT point to this bear starving. How would you say “really” then point to another article saying something “may or may not have been the cause”? Strange.
-
i think she’s trying to point out that things aren’t what they seem. polar bear populations are doing well in the area of this video which indicates the bear isn’t dying of starvation, but rather disease. it’s misleading. but still sad

-
How though? Posted an article with a differing point of view but absolutely NOTHING definitive, which means what? Absolutely nothing changed. Multiple perspectives on a singular issue, none of which are definitive, none of which are ruled out.
-
there was information added from a Canadian arctic biologist that said the polar bears are doing well in the area and it may be dying from disease. it may not be exactly definitive, but it shows that neither was the original National Geographic article.
-
Yes. And, the world “may” end tomorrow... or not. Again, multiple perspectives that could be correct or incorrect for a variety of reasons. To pretend, however, that climate change couldn’t be a cause is disingenuous at best.
-
to pretend it *is* is also disingenuous. the Arctic biologist made it clear that climate change is a developing issue that may lead to this in the future, but makes a point that National Geographic’s frame of climate change causing starvation in this particular video is incorrect
-
So, you can say with definitive facts that this was NOT climate change? I’m open to seeing those facts. Please send over.

#Fakenews@nytimes keeps going with the dead polar bear meme. 200 plus fat polar bears eating a whale is a#Russia plot.https://news.sky.com/story/dozens-of-polar-bears-pictured-eating-whale-carcass-on-russian-island-11140075 …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Would love to see the whole video. Is it sick or just old? Where was the video shot and when? Is this even current? Lots to examine here, but nice click bait for now
-
Concur. I don’t doubt the scientists. Just wondering if this poor polar bear was suffering from an illness and lost appetite and fight to survive.
-
Another article indicates that this particular bear may be dying to disease not starvation related to climate change

Instead of just taking pictures, why not feed the bear. If a beached whale is found, there are people in picture working day and night to save it. What is wrong with you to just take pictures. Why do you want to bring more sadness to the public?
-
So how long is a photographer supposed to feed it for? Forever? Not a realistic statement.

When I was in Iceland I asked a local about polar bears and they said the government kills them because they float from Greenland and they are not native to the island.
