Permits to hunt bighorn sheep are auctioned for hundreds of thousands of dollars. That money has helped revive sheep populations. http://nyti.ms/2BKrcdi  @jstallman, sports editor, identified this piece as one of the year's best articles.

Hmmm. We can improve the whole environment for everyone by charging the wealthy few large amounts of money. There's a lesson in here somewhere.

I have a novel idea. Why not donate the money to save the sheep instead of killing one for fun.

You do know not one dime of the fed or state taxes you pay goes to wildlife management and conservation, right? Including not just game species, but also non-game species. Do you know also who owns wildlife?

Doesn't mean you need to kill the wildlife. That is what his post was about. You know, shoot it with a camera. Why the need for blood?

I have to ask a serious question. Do you know how your state’s division of fish and wildlife is funded. While I can appreciate you find hunting distateful, non-consumptive users (e.g. non-hunters) do not pay a dime for wildlife conservation in your state. Or any state.

Not true. I contribute through donations and special vehicle license plate fees. State taxes, tobacco taxes, bond funding, income tax contributions and many onther non-consumptive sources are used to fund the Fish and Wildlife budget as well.

If you tell me what state you reside in...I can tell you exactly what the funding stream is for your State’s fish and wildlife department.

Allowing to kill for heavy money permits, to improve population... not a clever idea. Banning for 5 years or more should be more effective, and profitable in the long run. In my opinion, of course.

What a POS reporting. Ending the life of a sentient being for fun. Pathetic. Hunt them with your hands then maybe I'll respect you.

You could then auction off permits to hunt bighorn sheep hunters. Everyone loves the most dangerous game. Imagine how much money you could raise for conservation.
