What story misses is it's to insurers advantage if this is the case. Any costs customer pay themselves go to the bottom line: "You found a way to manipulate copays so ppl don't use insurance for prescriptions? Cool! Here's a bonus!"https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/939582698628280320 …

Walgreens keeps a list of common meds they can discount for those without insurance. Ask the pharmacist.

Learned that one in 2014, when my medication prices started skyrocketing. I now pay about $10 a month, for 3 "maintenance" prescriptions.

It’s no surprise that the pharmaceutical and health product industry spends the most out of all the big lobbying groups.

prenatale vitamins, ordered them at hospital's pharmacy with doctor's prescription + heath insurance. A bottle almost 30$ (2007). I said: wait, can I just leave it here? I honestly can't afford it right now. The pharmacist looked irritated but said yes. Went to Target, otc: 8$.
