A white couple adopted a black girl and then returned her for a white daughter. This is what happened when the 2 women met, decades later.http://nyti.ms/2ky2hq4

Those people didn't deserve 2 have children. & why the he'll did the adoption agency allow it. Yes they should of took back the 1st child, but never allow them took pick a different 1 jyst cause they changed their mind about the color of her skin. Despicable.😠😢💔

Did you even read the article? They were worried about adopting a black daughter because of the racial discrimination she would probably face. It's not like she was a product from a store someone used and returned because they didn't like it.

Spoiler: White people are absolved of racism & guilt by a “magical negro.” But maybe this “feel good story” only feels good to white people - including me - who need our own absolution. Or maybe I’m just a buzzkill. Regardless, this bugged me.

One of the biggest myth that has been perpetuated by whites is that blacks are living in the ghetto because that is who they are: Sadly, the vast majority of white zip codes are a legacy of state, and federal - racist zoning laws and covenants: Read:https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2014/06/the-case-for-reparations/361631/ …

That’s so sad. But this nonsense still happens today, white children are more likely to be adopted. How do we fix this dangerous racial bias?

Racial bias? It does happen, but most people I've seen adopt children always adopt non white kids. Also, this isn't racial bias... The family didnt want to adopt the black girl in fear of her facing to much racial discrimination in an all white area. The father said he felt guilty

Please look at the facts, white children are more likely to be adopted than black children, that is a fact. If it were not then why are parents (then) adopting from Russia?

Thank you for bringing that up. Its in statistics. I also know a girl who had worked in adoption agency and parents would put requirements and most of the first thing mentioned is that they want white children. Its heartbreaking.

When I see people talking about the absence of racial bias, they usually do not know what they are talking about.

She misses the importance of challenging the structure. Where the parents in this case played into the racial structure as a result they themselves acted racist. The point for them was not loving the child, it was loving a white child. Because a black child was “inconvenient.”
