He was still convicted even if it was a result of his guilty plea. He just wasn't convicted by a jury, but its still called a conviction.

He was probably looking at life. The fact is, he is gone for 20 years minimum. He may be in general population. He will learn quickly how low on the totem pole he is.

Imagine if there were no video. It would have been the policeman testimony that the victim "was reaching...." How many crimes were committed by law enforcement when there was no camera?
