Hoffman just said what many men (and some women) say, indicating zero comprehension of the impact of such harassment and/or abuse. Ugh

Women bring these things up when they have had enough of bad "men" pretending they are good men, and fooling the public into thinking they deserve the honor to lead us, when they clearly don't. Any questions? Is this really that hard? No, it's not.

Much like the Catholic male clergy during the sex abuse scandal, Hoffman acts stunned that blind respect isn't being paid for mere status.

On the one hand, she could’ve just been too afraid to speak up until now, but on the other-wayyyy too many people immediately take the “victim”s side in things without giving the benefit of the doubt to the supposed perpetrator
-
Since when do “way too many people take the ‘victim’s’ side”? Quite apart from the fact that false accusations are, according to police statistics, no more common than false accusations of any other crime. And, the media, in reporting, goes to great lengths to follow...

the entire comment strings for any article mentioning that allegations have been made? the articles may as well state the person was convicted, because thats how people act. and honestly, it's been that way for many years. M jackson is a good example. quite a few assumed guilt

For over forty years, claims of harassment have faced everything from indifference to retaliation. No surprise women were hesitant to come forward. Suddenly society is taking these claims seriously, and the women afraid to speak out are taking a stand.

but don't go too far the other way and just take every allegation as fact and punish based on that alone. take them seriously, as you would any crime, and just like any crime you investigate, and if the allegations are proven to be true then issue judgements accordingly.

Oliver was out of line. He should invite Hoffman to a one on one separate debate show, but not in that setting. Classless!
-
It is his show. Hoffman can’t expect to not face the question. He had a choice. Not go on the show or go on the show and answer questions. What would there be a “debate” over?

Your right. It was on a panel moderated by Oliver. However, Hoffman could have refused to address the question. Instead, he responded. Given the fact that the accusations are out there, that it is a hot topic, and that he might expect that questions would arise, he could have...

Seriously? The fact that you have to ask the question is a perfect indictment that you just don’t get it and never will. How indefensible you feel, how insignificant and powerless. Men like you are despicable. Try...just try...putting yourself in her shoes.

what bothers me about Oliver is that he is assuming Hoffman is guilty
-
By the end of the confrontation Hoffman all but admits it. Why else would he say "I was a different person then"?
