You are like, 45 years behind the times. Shipping has been around since Star Trek TOS.

Not to mention the complete wrongness of their tweet. If you wanted Hermione with Ron, you're still a shipper, you just ship a different OTP.
-
Now now, let's not confuse them with the OTP. That will take them another 45 years to discover. One step at a time.
-
So sorry. What was I thinking? I'm also absurdly giddy that their linked article is about "ship" as originating in X-Files fandom. MSR forever!
-
BWAHAHAHAHA omg it's so sad. I've got an OT4 right now that I'm pretty fond of in the Haikyuu!! fandom. (Don't ask. It's complicated.)

This article must be for grandparents wondering what their grandkids are talking about! And then grandma says, oh hey we’ve done that for years with our soaps.

Ok maybe, just maybe, don't use tumblr. They're, not great when it comes to a lot of fandom stuff. Try rooster teeth- the ship names for RWBY are, unlike "klance" rather inventively named and enjoyable, even if you don't like the ship itself.

You gonna tell me "white rose, eclipse, Lancaster, etc" aren't so much better than "weiby, blun, jeauby"
