John Anderson was the terrific founding chair of @fairvote where he championed #RankedChoiceVoting #NationalPopularVote #AutomaticVoterRegistration #Right2Vote - he was a stalwart supporter of women's equality & women's representation. It was an honor to know & work with him.pic.twitter.com/thG6AvYMaP

John Anderson refused to pander to voters, and instead told them the truth and trusted them to behave like thoughtful citizens, dooming any hope he ever had of being elected.

Good for you. I remember that election year. I walked 2 miles in the wet snow in sneakers to vote that year. I was soaked to my knees but my zeal for democracy was undiminished.

It didn't snow where I was but it was extremely cold and damp. You, sir, are what makes America great.

Thanx. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. I had visions of the #AbeLincoln historical tale, walking in the snow to get to school. LOL!

I remember him. I liked a lot of his politics at the time, even his gas tax, "I did it ... because I would rather see us reduce the consumption of imported oil than have to send American boys to fight in the Persian Gulf.”

In his honor, we should all acknowledge that the public-sounding Commission on Presidential Debates is a private and two-party-controlled entity that blocks third parties from the presidential @debates. Anderson supported open debates as do a majority of Americans.
