Tax “Reform” was never about the deficit. The @GOP has never really given a shit about the deficit and government spending. The only thing it’s ever cared about is giving hand outs to corporations and the 1% while undermining safety nets for oppressed communities #RESIST

From 2014: Corporations paid nearly $100 billion less in federal income taxes last year than before the Great Recession - down nearly 40% as a share of GDP. In fact, corporate profits and corporate tax collections are now trending in opposite directionshttp://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-biggest-tax-scam-ever-20140827 …

$94 billion to $131 billion in revenue that multinationals funnel away from public coffers through tax dodging each year. The bottom 1% of US households are collectively $196 billion in debt, while the top 1% own $33.4 trillion of combined net worth.https://www.thenation.com/article/bill-gates-jeff-bezos-and-warren-buffett-own-more-wealth-than-the-entire-poorest-half-of-the-us-population/ …

Remember when we had the recession? Wasn't that long ago. Remember Obama's proposals for stimulus and jobs programs and the R argument was that they would blow up the debt? Because when a President helps people debt is bad. But if you are helping donors, it's fine

This is only a problem for the Publicans if they care. But for them, blowing up the debt is a feature not a bug because it gives them an argument to further gut the safety net.
