Can the same strategy that worked against the Soviet Union — mutually assured destruction — work against North Korea?http://nyti.ms/2AnLNVD

Stop your propaganda! Show me one news report in which Kim threatens first strike against any nation let alone U.S. He has clearly stated in every speech I've ever heard him make, "Deterrent to U.S Invasion". Someone show me the news report proving me wrong.

I agree with you, except on the basis of propaganda. This article even states "There is no evidence that Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s current leader, or his father or grandfather, ever contemplated getting into a direct nuclear exchange with the United States."

There has been nothing but speculative talk around Kim. I've seen many documentaries on him yet I've not heard him threaten anyone if not threatened first. He wasn't even sworn in as leader before U.S. press labelled him threat.

How about if you use a different strategy that doesn't bankrupt us with an ever expanding military expense? NOTHING YOU TOLD US DURING THE COLD-WAR WAS TRUE! Go sell your McCarthy shit somewhere else.

As Eisenhower said “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

It actually wouldn't be mutual,NK can cause severe damage but not cause destruction. They would on the other hand cease to exist.
