Thanks for writing about this, but it's a strange choice of picture. MECFS is a debilitating autoimmune disease, not getting tired after you pick up the groceries. One doc described it as the way an AIDS patient feels 2 weeks away from death. More appropriate pictures please.

Too all of those saying it is simply ‘being lazy’ have thankfully never experienced it. I can’t even begin to describe the soul-deep exhaustion that plagues your every day life. Small tast may as well be mountain climbing. I just got tired writing this.

Please never confuse "chronic fatigue" with CFS. Chronic fatigue is a symptom of many diseases or lifestyle issues, CFS is a multisystemic disease. Yes we need a new name, but due diligence add Syndrome at the end or use ME/CFS

Thank you @nytimes for this article!!! 😊 So many have suffered for so long with this awful disease. #MECFS is quite different from chronic fatigue mentioned in title tho. Also, many are bedbound, tube fed. Very diff from article pic. TY for supporting #PwME! #TimeForUnrest

This is for lazy middle class people who are moving toward making every result of hard work some sort of illness. Poor people know nothing of these whiny armchair ailments. They work past 70 or 80 and live on average to 84 years. You have created a rat race, now don’t complain!

You're responding to the name given this disease, which was created to elicit just this response. It is actually an autoimmune neurometabolic failure. It's one of the worst diseases you can get, but given a very silly name.

Momentary laughter from a silly comment is much needed for those of us who can barely tolerate life and are on the last thread. Your comment was unnecessarily rude. Thanks for the tears. I really needed it today. So sorry YOU'RE suffering.

Your "lol" seemed to make light of what people like me who suffer daily from CFS go through. I'm sorry you're having problems with your life, but do not take it out on other people.

I understand daily suffering and I am not the kind of person to make fun of someone for their problems. I'm not taking anything out on anyone. You over reacted to my simple comment and added to my severe bout of depression. Maybe you would understand if you could feel what I feel

Maybe you would understand how hurtful it was when you joked about calling in tired to work. "lol". Unfortunately I don't even have that luxury anymore since I'm unable to work because of CFS. I don't think I over reacted and you should have not joked about CFS.

I'd like to be mad at you, but now I'm thankful we had this argument. I "educated myself" as you put it, and realized I have a lot of these symptoms myself. Explains a lot for me.https://www.webmd.com/chronic-fatigue-syndrome/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-symptoms …

I'm glad to hear that. I don't like to argue, but I had no other way to get my point across. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings; I truly didn't mean to. If you have any questions about CFS, don't hesitate to ask me anything at all. Have a good day. 🙂

Fatigue is typically a sign of something else..rather it be laziness or a legit disease. R we seriously calling the symptom itself as a chronic illness? Uggggggghhhhh more excuses.

Are you serious? I've suffered from CFS since 2005 after a battle with mononucleosis. How dare you judge those of us who have this disease? It's debilitating and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.
