Why do you think it’s a PERK that teachers get to write-off personal money we spend on our rooms and students? Shouldn’t the conversation be why schools aren’t providing teachers the tools and supplies to do their jobs?

States and local governments will have less to give for school supplies with GOP Plans!

Consider viewing needs at your local schools or registering a project if you are a teacher through @DonorsChoose If your niblings have a favorite teacher, you could donate in their name. Memorial gifts on behalf of a loved one who promoted education are also a great idea.

It only works out this way if the parents can afford the sponsorship. Many teachers in poor neighbourhood or school districts do not get any private sponsors. Instead, they spends sometimes thousands every year helping their students.

I chose a **title one** school district last summer. May teachers include that status in their project description. Some of the teachers had donor funds matched by private individuals or companies. Do a search. You don't have to know anyone at the schoolshttp://www.donorschoose.org

It's not a "perk" or tax break. It's a deduction because we spend hundreds of our own dollars on our classrooms and we don't make a ridiculous sum of money. Again, you're dropping the ball.

A $250 PERK? That’s insulting. I spend close to $1000 every year on classroom supplies so my inner city students can access the same curriculum as their suburban peers. The 250 is not a perk. It’s the government giving back part of what they should be funding in the first place.

Hey 👋🏻 Wanna be a teacher? You spend thousands of dollars getting degrees and licenses and keeping those licenses current. America hates you and you are demeaned everyday but in April you get a $250 perk. Whoohoo! Sign up here 😤

Imagine if you had to pay for the toner, the xerox paper, the internet connection, the pens, pencils, highlighters etc at your office job just to be able to do your job 🤔 That seems rather unfair, teachers have to pony up 100's of dollars for basic material for their classrooms.

The $250 Break for Teachers doesn't apply to GOP donors, so their bought and paid for congressmen don't care.

The sad state of education means many teachers - including me - spend way beyond the $250 deduction. Who really loses? Students.

If you help pay for school supplies, it's not a tax break for teachers, but instead the federal govt subsidizing the state local govts who can't fully support their schools.
