The average American consumes over 130 lbs. of sugar per year. A $1/lb. sugar tax (proceeds to health care coverage) would go a long ways towards reducing sugar consumption, or at least paying for its damage,

This tax should be covered by the member corporations of the sugar association for the next fifty years

This is disgusting! Pretty much remind me tobacco. But what scares me most is how many things else considered "good" today will be end up being considered harmful in the near future.

This should surprise no one. Big business does it all the time! The cigarette companies did it. Drug companies do it and car companies do it. Greed or the bottom line dictates morality these days. The welfare of the consumer is the last thing 2 be considered!

The fat industry should sue the sugar industry for accumulated damages over 50 yrs. Cardiovascular diseases were blamed on fat intake

We need "some" sugar, not the ungodly amounts most of us take in today. Our bodies aren't equipped to handle it.

Yup. I cut out refined sugar, and my arthritis symptoms all but disappeared and all my numbers (cholesterol, etc.) improved.

Once you cut out extra sugar it becomes nearly unbearable to eat so many mass produced foods. I tried a coke the other day and could not for the life of me figure out how I used to drink something so cloying.
