most people don't raise girls to be independent women, they (unconsciously) raise them to be wives

Do a better job of raising boys to respect girls. This can go both ways as I have seen abusive girls too. Teach respect mutually. In general it needs to be improved upon more so for too many boys.

Main problem with that is no father in the picture

That shouldn’t be an issue. Mothers can and should raise men who respect women

Yes they can and should but sadly without a father in the home the majority fail.

Exactly. The boys are the ones who need talking to about how to be good to women. The focus is on girls being “good” because a) still more men in power than women and b) girls suffer the consequences, not the men (unless they were abused).

Example of knee jerk culture right here. The title said "while girls", not "white girls". Try reading before hitting reply next time.

And at the same time boys are mocked for having "soft" emotions... it's a terribly self-defeating tragedy.

Another screed from the Acela Corridor about how boys are inherently evil. Their cultural, emotional and chemical castration is laying waste to a generation. Meanwhile, @GlennThrush remains employed at the Times.
