I never understood why children who are starved get viewed differently than children who are severely overfed. How is it different, other than the optics?

The ideal way to talk to anyone who is overweight is to tell them how great they look, flatter them and even suggest that they have just lost a few lbs. Talk like this continually and they begin to feel the self-esteem of a slim person and start to eat right by choice.

The problem w this article is the lack of addressing the #parent dynamic. They r often overweight. They nd help. -E

My son's dad had a weight problem. The only time I had nerve enough to call out my grandmother was for asking my son if he wanted to look like his dad as he had a snack. Not cool.

We should shame them for being fat. Being fat is shameful and acknowledging that will help them lose weight. This leads to happier lives.

Right!? We should also tell then that Santa only brings presents for thin, fit children and their dog died because they are Doritos. That should work real well... /s

The parents know better believe me. My mother always told me when I was an adolescent that I would never end up being something later on but I never let that stop me. A child can take it a whole lot different. Spreading love instead of hate wins over everything.
