Why go out for Thanksgiving? No cooking. No arguing. And, if you choose, no turkey.http://nyti.ms/2B4irue

why is it that people get all up in arms at retail stores being open on Thanksgiving but not restaurants??Waiters/waitresses are people with family too.

I was working a retail job today. We closed at 5. We got the last customer out about 5:15. Guess everybody wanted to shop after an afternoon nap. At least everybody was nice.

Truly, anyone who chooses to argue in favor of the GOP needs to submit themselves for immediate Thanksgiving psychological evaluation...unless you think justifying pedophilia & treason is somehow defensible

I thought we didn't want to make people have to go to work on Thanksgiving so they could be with family. Now you encourage people to go out and force people to work on this holiday? So much for that liberal love I guess...

"..make people have to go to work...", "...force people to work..." ?? What country do you live in? No one is forcing anyone to work in a restaurant.

They do if they want to keep their job the other 363 days of the year, assuming the business isn't so greedy as to be open on Christmas as well then it's 364 days.

There are mostly plenty of young single people who would just assume make money as try to enjoy the holiday. Single mother's on the other hand should just be quiet and serve, grateful for a job, right? How dare they even complain, after all that is the lot they've chosen right?

My deceased parents use to tell me "You make your bed, you lie in it." I missed many holidays because I chose to be a Naval Aviator. My choice. I could bitch, moan, complain, or shut-up and do the job I signed-up for. I chose the latter. Blame my parents for that attitude!

Just asking that you look at it from another perspective. There is a massive difference between being a Naval Aviator and a waiter. Last time I checked, and rightfully so, waiters don't hold the same honored position in society for their sacrifices.

Correct. Which is why I chose to EARN a 4-year college degree and a commission in the U.S. Navy. I was always taught that you get what you EARN. You make choices that can put you in a cockpit of a multi-million dollar aircraft or taking food orders for a living.

I owned several restaurants, I chose to treat my employees well. If your position is that those people who haven't yet earned a 4 year degree shouldn't be allowed to be with their families during the holidays then you are looking at this too shallowly.

I'm happy for the folks who want to eat out. Personally, I like the home "vibe" and the leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
