A sicker less healthy population is a bigger economic drain on society than a healthy one. And a higher standard of living results with better and timely care. We would be shaving pennies today to pay way more tomorrow. Why take that loan?

Money savings now but the long term medical costs of a person are much higher for the uninsured vs insured and that higher cost is typically levied on the population instead of the individual.

There was a piece on NPR this morning discussing that the removal of deductions from the new tax bill for health care will result in more people on Medicaid. So it saves the gov nothing, but makes people poorer and less in control of the money spent on healthcare.
